2011 EXCOM Minutes. The minutes were accepted as
approved on 15 September 2011.

Treasurer's
Report
a.
Darrell Dempster reported the status of the Class of 1953 fundas as follows:

NFCU Accounts Total:
$10,348

USNA Alumni Association Account: $4,724
The
report was approved.
b.
The NFCU Savings Account has a total of $8,341. It was recommended that we
put $5,000 in a 20-month NFCU CD at 3%. This action was approved.
NOTE:
After checking with NFCU Darrell reported that this was for IRAs only.
c.
Darrell also reported that $715 in NFCU savings was transferred from the
luncheon account by Joe Gildea. Darrell recommended that this money be
used for some Class project. Chris Zirps recommended that some of this
money (about $200) be used to defray the cost of the next June picnic.
This recommendation was approved.
d.
Darrell also stated that the Class Treasury was ready for audit. Chris
said that the next time he was in Annapolis he would audit the account.
3.
Memorial
Plaza Maintenance Endowment Fund. The end date for
collection of moneys for the Maintenance Endowment Fund was extended from the
end of 2012 to 31 December 2013 in order to provide more time to meet the $1
Million goal. The current donations/pledges amount to $219,630. The
Committee approved sending out another solicitation letter this year.
4.
World War II
Memorial/USS MISSOURI Surrender Plaque.. Chris
has nor received any further correspondence on this subject from VADM Hank
Mustin '55. He does not expect any word until the COCP meeting in late
March. The Class of 1953 commitment to this project is a replica of the
USS MISSOURI surrender plaque if the class is requested to provide it as part of
the larger World War II project with the 16-inch gun barrel.
5.
Distinguished Graduation Award Nomination. It is the
intent of the EXCOM to resubmit Bill Ramsey's nomination for the DGA in October.
Chuck Fellows agreed to review the letter and to coordinate with Bill Ramsey to
try to beef up the letter by trying to get more information on what fell out of
his efforts.
6.
Winter
Brunch. Chuck Fellows reported that 47 people have
signed up for the 12 February Winter Brunch.
7.
Sixtieth
Reunion. Chris Zirps reported that he and Al Glazier
have developed a preliminary schedule for the 6-9 June 2013 Sixtieth Reunion and
that a reunion letter will be mailed to the Class mid-February requesting
sign-up and an indication of what events the attendees would be interested in.
With the reunion in June after graduation midshipman related support might be
limited. The USS LIBERTY Group will be having a gathering in Annapolis at
the same time. Chris zirps has offered to help the Group and will try to
avoid any conflicts.
8.
Class
Schedule on the Web Site. Art bivens reported that the
Class Web Site usna53.org is back on line using a new vendor. Chris
advised that a 2012 schedul is posted on the web site to include the football
games. Time for the games are not posted since they are not available at
this time.
9.
June Picnic.
23 June 2012 was picked as the date for the Class Picnic. The picnic will
be at the Bay Room on the naval Station. Everyone liked the facilities and
location last year.
10.
LaneRogers
Art Porfolio. Chris zirps reported that efforts
to put a Lane Rogers package together is going well. Herb Tiede advised
that the Class has had problems getting Lane's military records, however he
seems to have resolved the issue and hopes to get the records soon.
