Mary H. Webster passed away on July 4, 2014, in Pacific Grove. She was 85 years old. Mary was born January 4, 1929, in New Haven, CT and spent her childhood with her family living up and down the East Coast as necessary to keep up her father's business.

Mary graduated from the National Cathedral School (Washington, DC) in 1946, and from Rawlins College (Winter Park, FL) in 1950. She then moved to New York City, where she graduated from the Tobe-Coburn School for Fashion Careers while pursuing a career in fashion merchandising. In 1952, Mary attended the U.S. Naval Academy ring dance as a blind date for then-midshipman, Capt. James "Jim" M. Webster. They enjoyed each other's company very much, courted, and were married in the Navy Academy Chapel on April 17, 1954.

For the next 30 years, Mary traveled the U.S. and Europe as a Navy wife and mother of two daughters. Mary and Jim fell in love with the Monterey Peninsula in the early 1960s, and, in 1977, they settled in Carmel Valley. Jim retired from the Navy in 1983 and Mary and Jim enjoyed many happy years of retirement in the Valley.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, who passed away July 19, 2013. She is survived by her sister, Pat Ezzell; her two daughters, Joanne and Patricia; and two granddaughters.
